Speak at Masters Hall of Fame Banquet

Hollywood, CA (For Release) – Tai Shing (Monkey Kung Fu) Grandmaster Michael Matsuda, the founder and President of the Martial Arts History Museum, will be the keynote speaker at the 2015 Masters Hall of Fame Awards Banquet sponsored by Monster Energy on Saturday, June 6, at Hollywood’s famed Roosevelt Hotel. The event recognizes excellence in the martial arts and will be hosted by Master of Ceremonies and martial arts film star T.J. Storm. More than 50 new members will be inducted for their contributions to the martial arts, their work in the community and their personal successes.

As grandmaster in Monkey Kung Fu, Matsuda is the sixth generation successor and only the second non-Chinese to master the art.

In addition to being the founder of the Martial Arts History Museum, Matsuda is the founder and former publisher of Martial Art Magazine, a contributor to Black Belt and Inside Kung Fu magazines, and the author of several books. He has been practicing the martial arts for over four decades and has studied judo, jiujitsu, karate and jeet kune do, along with forms of kung fu. As grandmaster in Monkey Kung Fu, Matsuda is the sixth generation successor and only the second nonChinese to master the art.

In addition to his work in the martial arts, Matsuda is active in the community, taking full advantage of his background and degrees in business, journalism and art design. He has been involved in organizing programs for Save the Children Foundation, the Tsunami Relief Fund and numerous blood drives.

Over the years, the Masters Hall of Fame has held its award ceremonies in conjunction with events such as the Disney Martial Arts Festival® and, in 2014, the Long Beach International Karate Championships. Also in 2014 the organization held its first event east of the Rocky Mountains, the Dallas, Texas, Masters Hall of Fame. The 2015 venue honors the legacy of martial arts in films, as the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel was the site of the first Academy Awards presentation. The 2015 Awards Banquet will also honor martial artists from Mexico, Venezuela, Argentina, Switzerland and Japan.

The Masters Hall of Fame was founded in 1999 and is recognized as one of the premier Martial Arts events on the West Coast. The association recognizes exceptional Martial Arts Leaders and Legends through induction into the Masters Hall of Fame. Past inductees include Don “The Dragon” Wilson, Cynthia “Lady Dragon” Rothrock, Benny “The Jet” Urquidez, Bill “Superfoot” Wallace, and Professor Bob White. Honorees are chosen for their dedication to the martial arts and work in the community, as well as their individual successes.
