Masters Hall of Fame Inducts

Darren E. Scott 

Long Beach, CA – Actor and martial artist Darren E. Scott was inducted into the Masters Hall of Fame at the organization’s annual Awards Banquet held on August 1 at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach. This year the event was held in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the Long Beach Internationals, a premier karate championship founded by legendary American Kenpo Grandmaster Ed Parker. Scott is a 4th Degree Black Belt in Goju-ryu Uchiage-Kai who specializes in karate (kata/point sparring) and is currently training in Muay Thai and Brazilian Jujitsu.

A native of Richmond, British Columbia, Canada, Scott began training at age 8 and earned his first black belt at age 11. His art, Goju-ryu Uchiage-Kai, is one of the original styles of karate and was founded by Master Chojun Miyagi. Scott, whose legal name is Darren Choo, is a former Canadian National Champion and a former national-level referee and Provincial Coach.

Darren E. ScottIn addition to his participation in the martial arts, Scott is an accomplished actor with a resume that includes appearances in action films from both North America and Asia. His first on-set experience came in the 1995 feature film The Hunted, and has also appeared in leading roles in Supercapitalist and Game of Assassins. He has also appeared on television, with roles in Smallville and The Tomorrow People and a recurring role in Almost Human.

“It is an honor to be recognized for my achievements for my contribution to Martial Arts,” said Scott of his induction. “It has changed my life and taught me so much, especially about myself as an individual. I've come across many wonderful people over the years through Martial Arts.”
